Kenya: Migori Heads Told to Pay for Training

School heads in Migori county have raised concern over a government circular for them to pay Sh7,000 to help train cooks and watchmen. Primary and secondary schools heads from private and public institutions have said the letter is coming at a time when they cannot afford the payment.

They said they are broke as the government delayed to offer free education funds and they are financing the ongoing national examinations. The letter dated October 30 and addressed to all school heads came from county director of education Beatrice Atsyago's office. It says the money will be for training.
