TAITA Taveta Governor John Mruttu has said an electric fence will solve the human-wildlife conflict in the county. Speaking in Mwatate on Friday during a stakeholders meeting on the conflict, Mruttu urged residents to welcome a fencing project by Kenya Wildlife Services from Maktau to Ndi, and Aailya, Kasighau to Bachuma.
He said the fence will prevent the elephants from straying from Tsavo National park to their farms. The fence will be built around villages adjacent to the park. Mruttu said despite KWS using all means to stop the elephants from going into the farms, they always strayed back after a short while because there is no fence to stop them.
