Africa: Kenyan Bank Ranked Leading African Investor

Kenyans invested $835 million abroad last year, placing third on the continent after Egypt and South Africa. The figures, which rank the Nairobi-headquartered KCB lender as Kenya's largest foreign investor, are disclosed in the World Investment Report 2013 published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

KCB has invested $300 million abroad in the past five years, according to the report, which did not, however, list the other top investors. "Among African investors, Kenya Commercial Bank was the largest investor in LDCs. It announced a total of $300 million in investments over 2005-2012, with 31 projects in five African LDCs," said the report.
