Kenya: The U.S. Welcomes Agreement Between Somalia, Kenya And UNHCR

U.S. Special Representative for Somalia James P. McAnulty congratulates the Federal Government of Somalia on signing the November 10 tripartite agreement with the Government of Kenya and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The agreement establishes a framework of conditions for the voluntary repatriation of Somali refugees living in Kenya with dignity and safety, and in accordance with the UN Convention on Refugees.

The United States Government remains a committed partner to the government and citizens of Somalia and will continue to support Somalia's path towards a peaceful, stable, and prosperous future.
