Kenya: Cord Slams State Over Muthama's Guards

A section of cord senators have demanded for immediate reinstatement of security detail to Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama. Addressing a press conference yesterday at KICC, senators James Orengo (Siaya), David Musila (Kitui), Abdirahman Hassan (Wajir) and Kennedy Mong'are (Nyamira) accused the Jubilee government of engineering the withdrawal of the bodyguards.

Last Friday, Muthama expressed fears that his life was in danger after his bodyguards were withdrawn under unclear circumstances. Yesterday, he said his life has been ridden with life-threatening situations he attributed to his political stand and recent move to block provision of free land to foreign investors by the Machakos county government.
