Angola: Police Detain Chinese Citizen in Possession of Diamond

A Chinese citizen was arrested by agents of the National Police Friday at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, for having in his possession one diamond stone and 33 credit cards.

According to the spokesperson of the National Police, commissioner Aristofanas dos Santos, who released this information today to Angop, the Chinese national, Zill Zhun, was also found in possession of USD 9.800 while boarding a flight of the Ethiopian Airlines bound for China.

The Police official said the Chinese citizen was acted during a police approach, due to the suspicious movements of Zill Zhun, a fact which aroused the attention of the corporation members, in service at the airport.

The Chinese citizen, he said, is being held in the Judicial Police of the airport, which is dealing with criminal proceedings, before directing him to the Economic Police.

"The money seized is in the custody of customs authorities, who after following the legal procedures will be forwarded to the National Reserve Bank of Angola (BNA)," he said.
