West Africa: French Hostage Release By Ansaru Group Explained

Alain Rodier is a former intelligence officer and the director of research at the French Centre for Research on Intelligence (Cf2R). In an interview with Anne Verdaguer of RFI he explains who is Ansaru, the group that was responsible for the kidnapping of Francis Collomp. Collomp was released in Nigeria on 17 November after almost a year in captivity.

Collomp Francis was kidnapped almost a year ago by about thirty armed men. The kidnapping was later claimed by Ansaru, a group linked to Boko Haram. What is the relationship between these two Islamist groups?
