The Assembly of State Parties (ASP) has now approved three key proposals to amend the rules of the ICC touching on cases affecting President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William, Ruto.The ASP allowed an amendment to Rule 68 which deals with the issue of prior recorded evidence.
Another crucial amendment which the Kenya delegation has been lobbying the delegates at the ASP is an insertion to rule 134 of the rules of procedure which will now allow Uhuru and Ruto to be away from trial and be represented by their lawyers. Rule 100 has also been replaced by a new rule to allow change of venue for the trial.
