Namibia: Man Axes Mother to Death, Injures Sister

A WOMAN from Otjimbingwe is dead after her 22-year-old son chopped her four times in the head with an axe, allegedly because she did not give him money.

The son also allegedly chopped his sister in the head once when she tried to stop him. The incident happened last Thursday. According to Acting Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator for Erongo Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu the suspect was arrested on Monday. He was apparently hiding at the settlement when police found him. The man's mother, Erica Uiras (54) was transferred to a hospital in Windhoek where she died of her injuries on Sunday.
