Rwandans to Report Graft Cases Online

Rwandans will soon be able to report cases of corruption via SMS and a web based platform designed by Transparency International Rwanda. The new system 'IFATE' which is set to be launched today will allow citizens report corruption and related injustices anonymously. The idea was borne out of an ICT competition last year, where young ICT experts were tasked to come up with solutions to fight corruption.

According to a research carried out by Transparency International Rwanda, on gender-based corruption, 48.1 per cent of corruption victims do not report for lack of confidentiality of the already existing reporting systems, limited physical accessibility of mechanisms and costs involved.
