Kenya: Kongowea Traders Support Cleanup

Traders at the Kongowea market have supported plans by the Mombasa county government to clean and renovate the market. However, they said the two days for which the county government plans to close the market is too short to conduct any meaningful renovation.

The market's central committee chairman Ali Mtsumi yesterday said the market is in a sorry state and will need at least a whole week to re-carpet the roads, renovate the toilets, provide piped water and clean the market.
