Nairobi — Six members of the Judicial Service Commission suspended by President Uhuru Kenyatta have been reinstated by the High Court.

High Court Judge George Odunga also gave orders suspending a tribunal instituted by President Kenyatta to investigate the conduct of the six commissioners pending hearing and determination of an application by the JSC.

The case filed yesterday challenges the suspension of the six JSC members by the President. The JSC said the decision by the President to suspend the six members despite an existing court order barring such action is against the law.

Justice Odunga recommended that the Chief Justice Willy Mutunga form a three-judge bench to hear the case.

The members who were suspended by a special gazette notice on Friday are Prof. Christine Mango, Ahmednassir Abdullahi, Hon. Justice Mohamed Warsame, Emily Ominde, Reverend Samuel Kobia and Florence Mwangangi.
