Sudan: Militiamen Seriously Injure, Rob Camp Resident in West Darfur's Sirba

3 December 2013

Sirba — Militiamen seriously injured a resident of the Armenkol camp, Sirba locality, in West Darfur. The spokesperson for the Sirba camps told Radio Dabanga that "ten government-backed militiamen on horses and camels" attacked Abdallah Mohamed Abakar in the area of the Kadam hills, located between the Armenkol and Tendelti camps for the displaced.

"On his way back from Tendelti market to Armenkol, Abakar was attacked by the militiamen. They severely beat and whipped him. He is now bedridden, receiving treatment. They robbed him of his money, mobile phone and his goods." The spokesperson called on the authorities "to protect the citizens and deter those militias".
