Ethiopia: The 3rd Ethiopia and Sudan Joint Commission Ministerial Meeting

The 3rd Ethiopia and Sudan Joint Commission Ministerial Meeting was held yesterday (December 3, 2013) in Khartoum, Friendship Hall. The meeting which was co-chaired by Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom and his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti was attended by Alemayehu Tegenu, Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Sofian Ahmed , Minister of Finance and Economic Development , Workneh Gebeyehu, Minister of Transport, Redwan Hussen ,Minister for Government Communication Affairs, Getachew Ambaye, Minister of Justice , Siraj Fegesa , Minister of Defence, Abraham Negusie , Deputy Director General of Ethiopian Customs and Revenues Authority .

The Sudanese Side was represented by Dr. Babiker Nahar, Miniter of Transport , Mustafa Osman Ismail, Minister of Investment, Dr. Mohammed Abdel Karim alhad, Minister of Tourism , Dr. Tabita Boutros State Minister at the Ministry of Electricity & Water resource. In his opening remarks, Ali karti, noted the pivotal role of the agreements as paving way for strategic integration of the two countries. He hailed the fruitful cooperation of the two brotherly countries and expressed hope that the signing of the 13 agreements in key areas of cooperation including security, governance, investment, trade, human trafficking, justice, banking would further enhance it.
