South Africa: Nelson Mandela Dies Peacefully

Flowers and messages of support were left for Nelson Mandela while he was ill.

Cape Town — Nelson Mandela died peacefully at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, on Thursday night, President Jacob Zuma announced in a live broadcast to the nation.

"This is our moment of deepest sorrow. Our nation has lost its greatest son," he said.
