Sudan: Ma'alia-Hamr Clashes Kill 27, Injure 30, Displace 6,000 in West Kordofan

Abu Karinka / El Taboun — The number of fatalities in the Ma'alia-Hamr clashes on Thursday and Friday in West Kordofan has reached 27. More than 30 people were injured.

The commissioner of Abu Karinka in East Darfur, police Brig. Ahmed Ali Rizig told Radio Dabanga that an initial count recorded 11 dead and 13 wounded among the Ma'alia tribesmen, while the Hamr lost 16 men. 17 of them were wounded. He added that the well of Um Deibun was destroyed. Dozens of livestock were killed, many houses torched and the Um Deibun market plundered.
