Tens of thousands of South Africans filed into Soweto's FNB Stadium in a mood of sadness and pride, undeterred by a downpour on Tuesday, to pay their final respects to Nelson Mandela along with world leaders who have claimed him as a hero for all.
The four-hour memorial would see US President Barack Obama lead foreign tributes for the man he has said "belongs to the ages".
