Tanzania: Smile Offers New High-Tech Routers At Reduced Price

SMILE Communications has launched a promotion campaign where business and individuals can purchase at a reduced price the Smile "Mi-Fi" - a multiple-user, pocket-sized router with in-built battery that comes loaded with a free internet start-up bundle.

The promotion campaign dubbed the 'Gift of Speed' will run for two months to enable people enjoy Smile's internet during this holiday season at a more affordable price, said Smile's Head of Direct Sales, Deogratius Ndejembi in a statement.

"More and more businesses, friends and family are not only using but becoming dependent on good quality, high speed internet.

To help people do that, we are offering our Mi-Fi routers for the promotional price of only 149,000/-. And we will load the device with a 5GB bundle," he said.

The light weight long-life battery device is about the size of a small mobile phone and works as a modem and router. The Mi-Fican share connections with up to eight WiFi-enabled devices simultaneously, such as tablets, notebooks, laptops and smartphones.

"With a Mi-Fi, users can share Smile's superfast 4GLTE internet experience in the office, at home or on the move. Hours of uninterrupted communication are now possible with the Smile Mi-Fi, which has a battery life of up to eight hours of typical internet usage," he noted.

The Smile Mi-Fi has an attractive, slick design. Its display allows the user to easily see the connection status, bandwidth utilisation, signal strength, calendar and time. To use the portable device simply 'plug and play,' with no software needed to be installed.

"We are very happy to announce this promotion, giving more Tanzanians the opportunity to experience the speed and efficiency of our superfast internet which is at par with the fastest networks worldwide, in keeping with the changing demands of Tanzanian society," said Smile Country Manager for Tanzania and Uganda, Fiona McGloin.
