Gambia: UTG Wins Actionaid Inter-Tertiary Debate Competition

The University of the Gambia (UTG) Friday emerged the winners of the Action AID International, The Gambia Inter-tertiary debate competition at the KMC Multi Purpose Hall in Kanifing. The theme of this year's competition was 'from peace in the home to peace in the world'.

ActionAid organized the competition, which is an annual event in partnership with the UTG Student Union and it is aimed among other things to improve young people's skills in public debate as regarding current issues affecting the welfare of women. The contestants at the final stage of the competition were Management Development Institution (MDI), University of the Gambia (UTG), The Gambia College, Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), International Business College and Stratford University respectively. The debate was centered on selected topic on 'All Policies of the Bretton Woods Institutions, World Bank and IMF.'
