Gambia: Methodist Sets Early Pace As Primary School Cricket Gets Underway

The defending champion of the Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) primary school league the Methodist Preparatory School recently played St. Joseph Lower Basic School in the 2013/14 league which kicked off on Thursday 14th November 2013 at the July 22nd Square in Banjul. Methodist Preparatory won the toss and elected to bat and scored 78 runs in their allotted 15 overs given to them for 4 wickets.

Bai Modou Jack batted for them and scored 21 runs. He also bowled 3 overs and took 4 wickets for 4 runs. St. Joseph's batted in the second inning and were all out for 39 runs in 11 overs. The highest run scorer for them was Famara Colley with 4 runs and the highest wicket taker was Omar Drammeh with 3 overs and 2 wickets for 18 runs. Methodist Preparatory school won by 39 runs. On Friday the 15th, St. Mary's Lower Basic School played with Campama Lower Basic School and the toss was won by Campama and elected to bat and scored 54 runs in their allotted 15 overs given to them for 6 wickets. Bai Cherno Nyang batted for them and scored 16 runs for them. Abdoulie Tamba bowled 3 overs and took 4 wickets for 8 runs. St. Mary's Lowers Basic School batted in the second inning and was able to score 47 runs in 15 given to them for 8 wickets. The highest run scorer for them was Alaghi Keita with 9 runs and the highest wicket taker was Baboucarr Jallow on 3 overs for 3 wickets and 9 runs. Campama Lower Basic School won by 7 runs. Tuesday 19th saw Albion Lower Basic play with Rev. J. C. Faye Memorial School and the toss was won by J. C. Faye Memorial, who elected to bat and scored 28 runs in their allotted 15 overs given to them for 10 wickets.
