Egypt: Fakhri Abdel-Nour - Independent Authority for Mines to Be Established

The Cabinet will convene on Wednesday 11/12/2013 to discuss a draft law on establishing an independent authority of mines and quarries so as to avoid multiplicity of bodies concerned with this strategic industry, Industry Minister Mounir Fakhri Abdel-Nour said Tuesday 10/12/2013.

Still, Abdel-Nour thinks it is better that this authority be affiliated with his ministry. In another context, Abdul Nour called for establishing an entity for the hawkers that are amounted to millions to monitor their activities and collect taxes from them.

International consulting firm helps Egypt restructure spinning & weaving sector In a meeting with the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF), Abdel-Nour assured them that problems of workers in textile factories will be settled within six months in accordance with recommendations of international consulting firm that is currently studying problems of smuggling, increased customs and ebbing investments.

Abdel-Nour pointed out that the international consulting firm would help government restructure spinning and weaving sector.
