Nigeria: Ekiti Lawmaker, Six Others Held Over Murder

Ado-Ekiti — Nine people including a lawmaker at the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Boluwade Kehinde, were Wednesday arraigned before a chief magistrate's court for allegedly killing one Foluso Ogundare in Emure Ekiti, Ekiti State on November 3, 2013.

The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Soji Adegboye, ordered the accused persons to be reminded in prison custody and adjourned the case to January 10, 2014, when the case will come up for mention. Those accused include Ilesanmi Peter,26, Boluwade Kehinde,44, Adedayo Kayode,33, Afolabi Ishola, 47, Babalola Olomi, 47, Malomo Alabi, 29, Taidi Yinusa, 30, Ayo Famojuro, 45, and Olawumi Fagborila, 20. Two of them were however at large. Ogundare, a supporter of Hon. Michael Bamidele was allegedly shot dead at a political meeting being held under the Ekiti Bibire Coalition, the political platform of the lawmaker. One Mrs. Beatrice Ige was also shot on the buttocks but survived.
