Tunisia: Ways to Strengthen Tunisian-Libyan Security Co-Operation Discussed

Carthage — Ways to strengthen the Tunisian-Libyan co-operation, particularly in the areas of development, security and fight against terrorism were discussed as Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki met on Thursday, at CarthagePalace, with Libya's Deputy Prime Minister for the Interior Sadik Abdelkarim.

The visiting Libyan official also discussed with President Marzouki means to lay down the foundations of a sustainable development on the Tunisian-Libyan border strip in order to fight goods smuggling and arms trafficking and strengthen the economic and social relations between residents of this area.

After his meeting with the President, Abdelkarim said his visit to Tunisia aimed to lay the foundations of a genuine climate of stability and boost development, stressing the common willingness to establish sustainable development in the interest of both countries.

The Libyan guest also reiterated the "strategic importance" of the Tunisian-Libyan relations.
