Kenya: MP Wants Moi Name Retained

BOMET Central MP Ronald Tonui has protested the renaming of the Moi International Sports Stadium as Safaricom Stadium. He said the change of the stadium's name will erode the gains made by former presidents

Speaking at Bomet Green Stadium, as a means to erode the gains made by the former Presidents. "Such landmarks should not be washed way through cheap publicities," Tonui said.

He said former president Daniel arap Moi played a key role towards the social and economic developmental issues in the country. "Altering the names of such leaders amounts to deprivation of their struggles in the country," Tonui said. He said it is a shame for the country to undo achievements and monuments established by past leaders.
