Eritrea: Social Welfare Activities Worth Over 94 Million Nakfa Conducted in Southern Region

Mendefera — At an assessment meeting conducted on 10 December in Mendefera it was disclosed that the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the Southern region has conducted social welfare activities worth over 94 million Nakfa including assisting over 33 thousand families of martyrs, war disabled, orphans and needy citizens.

In a report presented by Mr. Haile Gebremicael, representative of the branch office, it was indicated that micro loan and credit scheme has been introduced in cooperation with Eritrean national residing abroad, and that 98% from the beneficiaries have been able to pay back their loans.

Mr. Franco Kubaba, Director of Social Affairs in the region, on his part said that identifying needy citizens and assisting them so that they become self-supporting is bearing encouraging result, and that the regional administration would live up to expectations to provide the necessary assistance.
