Liberia: Novanfone Distance Itself From Employees Act

The Management of Novafone has distanced itself from a criminal act recently committed by one of its employees who was arrested last week Friday.

The Novafone employee identified as Mr. Hussein Dakroub was arrested while using SIM Box equipment capable of defrauding the Government of Liberia (GOL) of millions of dollars in tariffs by illegally rerouting incoming international calls and disguising their origin to appear as local calls.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Chief Commercial Officer of Novafone, Madam Rebecca Mackitterick, disclosed that Mr. Dakroub is under police custody for investigation.

Madam Mackitterick disclosed that the Novafone Company does not know anything about what Mr. Hussein Dakroub did and that the SIM Box was discovered at Mr.Dakroub home in Congo Town and not in the company's yard.

"We are working on the damage against our company because we want people to understand that our company is not involved in that act," Madam Mackitterick averred.
