Nigeria: The Irony of Politics

Another indicator that this period in the life of the nation is interesting is the turn at which the once rosy relationship between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his now estranged political godson, President Goodluck Jonathan, has assumed. It has completely gone awry!

For an Obasanjo who did everything to ensure Jonathan became governor after the plan to send the former Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, to jail had been perfected; Obasanjo who allegedly ditched his own core men to make him vice president; intervened in the succession crisis that made him acting president and campaigned round to eventually make him a substantive president with his own election in 2011, is a case study for an intelligent political science class.
