Former Board Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Chief Bode George, may not end up an unhappy man after all. His acquittal, last Friday, of conviction for corruption by the Supreme Court, may have made up for his wrongful conviction.
Dateline: October 26, 2009, Lagos. Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George had no premonition that anything would go wrong. Hale and hearty, he was already up and dressed in one of his exquisitely made agbada with his unique cap to match. A quintessential Lagos boy, you'd reckon. George, apparently, was filled with such excitements that the day would have been unable to contain. Yes, there was a pending court case over allegations of corruption in his days as Board Chairman, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). It didn't seem to bother him and he was just as ready to witness the final hearing.
