The Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, his Yobe State counterpart, Ibrahim Geidam, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have faulted the announcement made by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ((INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, that elections might not hold in 2015 in states affected by emergency rule, if the reign of insecurity persists.
Shettima spoke yesterday, arguing that should INEC not conduct elections in his state, Yobe and Adamawa, it would create the impression that the federal government had failed to rout out Boko Haram and that the terrorist organisation was supreme.
