Despite the various programmes put in place by President Goodluck Jonathan's administration since 2010, and those of previous administrations, about 50 per cent of Nigerian youth were still unemployed in 2012.
The figure of the unemployed was contained in the "2012 National Baseline Youth Survey Report" released in Abuja yesterday, by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youths Development. The data is the most current on Nigerian youth by the government statistics agency.
