Police yesterday forcibly opened the Kapsabet District Hospital mortuary. Bereaved families could not collect the bodies of their loved ones because the hospital was closed following the ongoing health workers strike countrywide.
Led by Kapsabet police boss Joseph Mc'Oduor and his deputy Silvester Olaloh, the officers cut three padlocks used to lock the mortuary doors. "We will not allow them to mistreat the bereaved, let them continue with what they have decided to do but allow people ferry their dead for burial without frustrations," Mc'Oduor said.
