Kenya: Ignoring Farming for Roads and Rails

AS Kenya turned 50, a series of infrastructure projects were commissioned by various dignitaries but agriculture, which has been the mainstay of the country's economy for decades, was still treated to the back burner.

Agriculture has grown since independence as can be seen from increased farm productivity, engagement of over 70% of the rural populace, and being responsible for 18% of all employment and contributing to 65% of foreign exchange earnings.
