The Social Protection Platform Gambia (SPPG) in collaboration with Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP) based in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday held its congress, which brought together some 60 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that are involved in promoting social protection in The Gambia.
The event held at the Tango Conference Hall in Bakau centred on key issues affecting SPPG operations in the country through the amendment of draft documents and the election of members to the committee. In his introductory statement, Madi Jobarteh, member of the association, posited that the creation of SPPG is indeed timely, as it will serve as the umbrella body for many CSOs with the view of creating national protection mechanisms.
