Gambia: Pa Modou Mbowe Hopes to Inspire Gambian Youngsters

Former goalkeeper turned physical educator, Pa Modou Mbowe, has disclosed his plans of working with the country's sports authorities in improving the standard of our games. Pa Modou who also played as a defender for Kongoyan and Guigi in the late 1980s as well as a basketball player in the early part of his career team was speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer last week. Mbowe who also has a firsthand experience of several other sports practiced in the country, disclosed that he has drafted an action plan for Gambian sports with his main target being the youths, by improving their physical attributes, within the school Physical Education curriculum that will also serve as a springboard for kids at schools.

He opined that it is important for school going children to realise that specialising in physical education can lead them to university degrees, which he said can go a long way in addressing the need for more qualified trainers in Gambian sports.
