Angola: Cornerstone for Construction of Matala Prison Laid

The first stone for the construction of a class-C prison with capacity to accommodate more than 500 inmates was alid on Saturday in Matala municipality, southern Huíla province.

The cornerstone was laid by the State Secretary of Interior for Prison Services, José Bamoquina Zau.

On the occasion, the official said in the first phase his sector is concerned about reduction of inmates in Lubango prison, provided that this unit is overcrowded.

Matala municipality has more than 300.000 inhabitants.
