Nigeria: Wailings, Pains, Losses Trail Mile One Market Fire in Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt — It was loud wailings and deep pains for traders, penultimate week in Port Harcourt, Rivers State when the popular Mile One market located at the ever busy Ikwerre road was gutted by fire. But the cause of the fire incident which burnt goods worth millions of naira has remained a puzzle, as the police are yet to unravel the cause.

Weekly Trust gathered that for over 30 years, the Mile One market is the only market in Rivers State which brings together Hausas, Igbos, Yoruba and other ethnic groups from different parts of Nigeria daily to transact business.
