With the aim of generating 1,870 Mw of electric power, Gilgel Gibe III hydro-power project is anticipated to commence its operation in the coming Ethiopian New Year, September, 2014, said the Ministry of Water, Irrigation & Energy (MoWIE). The minister, Alemayehu Tegenu, says 80pc of the construction of the project has so far been finalized.
"Other electric power plant projects, such as Adama II Wind Farm and Genale Dam are in the process of being constructed," Alemayehu said.
