Liberia: Sirleaf Suspends Libtelco Board, MD

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has, with immediate effect, suspended the entire Board of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LIBTELCO), including the Corporation's Managing Director, pending the conclusion of an investigation, under the guidance of the Ministry of Justice, into their failure to adhere to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act in concluding a contract with a European company, Ketter Telecom (K3).

According to an Executive Mansion release, the President took the action following a meeting with the LIBTELCO Board on Friday evening. The Board consists of: Mr. Francis Horton, Chairman; Mr. Ben Wolo, Secretary & Managing Director; and members Ms. Ciata Victor, Mr. Floyd Thomas, Mr. Mohammed Sherif, Mr. James Cooper, and Mr. Jackson E. Doe.
