Kenya: Juja Market to Be Refurbished
By Felix Njenga, 24 December 2013
Developers in Juja town will be prosecuted by Kiambu county government after they were found to be discharging waste materials into Juja Market. Kiambu public health executive F N Mwangi toured the market and ordered that the roads be graded and the open air market be refurbished.
He said dirty and untidy stalls be pulled down and traders should build stalls that are not a risk to fire outbreaks. He also said six functional toilets should be provided. This comes after the area representative Samuel Gitau said that Juja market was flooded with waste from surrounding buildings.
