Kenya: Low Sales for Curio Traders

CURIO traders in Malindi are still experiencing low sales despite the reported hotel bookings in the area. A trader, William Kenyatta, said the season has been hard for most of them.

"We have experienced losses this season. The season was supposed to pick in August but things have not been well," he said. Speaking to the Star yesterday, Kenyatta sales may increase if the government tightens security.

"We are however optimistic that with the bookings, we are going to start earning something from December 27," he said. Malindi Tourist Market chairman Joshua Muchiri said they are yet to receive foreign visitors.
