Gambia: GAMWORKS' Project Inflow Funds Amounted to D122 Million

The director general of the Gambian Agency for the Management of Public Works (GAMWORKS) Thursday revealed that in spite of the challenges of the year ending, 31 December 2012, GAMWORKS was able to register a significant achievement as its project inflow funds during period under review amounted to D122 million.

Ebrima Cham made this disclosure while delivering his report on the 9th Annual General Meeting of the Agency, which brought together numerous stakeholders from both public and private sectors. Cham disclosed that payments to contractors during the period total D105 million; consultants received D5 million as D24 million went to other service providers. He indicated that Gamworks' objective is to implement development projects, especially in the area of infrastructure, on behalf of the government of The Gambia and development partners. Cham further explained that the Agency's interventions are divided into two categories: act as a delegated management contractor and as implementing component of projects in the area of civil works and infrastructure.
