Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom received representatives of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA) at his office on Monday.
The representatives praised the successful efforts of repatriating Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia and said that the Chamber is ready to contribute its share in rehabilitating the repatriates.
The Chamber also made financial contribution to the national bank account set up for this purpose.
The representatives further said that even though the way Ethiopians were forced to leave Saudi Arabia was sad, the fact that they are returning to their own country should be seen positively.
Dr. Tedros appreciated the initiative taken by the Chamber and the business community and suggested the different ways that the private sector can contribute.
The Minister said that Ethiopia is on the right track and the country presents enormous opportunities for anyone willing to work and prosper.
He said that the private sector can make a difference in teaching the youth about the potentials and rewards available in the country and the dangers of considering migration as the only road to prosperity.
Dr. Tedros also briefed the representatives about the government's policy on migration and its commitment and ongoing work to protect the safety and rights of Ethiopians abroad.
