AIRTEL Tanzania has continued its partnership with the National Council for Road Safety in its efforts to educate the public to comply with traffic rules, especially this festivals season.
Airtel has been collaborating closely with the Road Safety Council on various educational campaigns. Speaking on behalf of the company, Airtel Tanzania Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Hawa Bayumi said this time everyone should be more careful to prevent accidents.
"We should be very careful and make sure that we protect ourselves from the wave of road accidents that cause great loss to our country. Drivers should make sure they avoid driving while drunk during this festival season," said Hawa.
The Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Road Safety Council and Head of Traffic police, DCP Mohammed Mpinga said the main goal of these campaigns was to minimise road accidents and its effects over the holidays this year 2013/2014 and to ensure education is issued accordingly.
"We are grateful to Airtel for joining us in regard to the safety of Tanzanians, the task of educating road users is large and so we continue to call on other partners to support us to help convey the message.
We will reach our goals if we will only cooperate and work together," said DCP Mpinga.
On his part the Road Safety Campaign Ambassador, Athumani Hamisi said road accidents have been increasing due to violations of laws, rules and traffic regulations. "People should strive to avoid such accidents," he said.
