Instead of putting up the traditional Christmas tree, Kigali Serena Hotel this year decided to decorate the lives of less privileged children.
At a luncheon for the kids on Sunday, the hotel through its social responsibility arm gave back to the community by granting the Christmas wishes of 125 children under the care of the Christian Life Assemblies.
The wishes ranged from roofing for a house, over scholastic material to clothes for the kids.
"We are delighted to give back to the future of this country by giving them a memorable impact and smile this Christmas," said Charles Muia, general manager of the Kigali Serena and country manager for Serena Hotels in Rwanda.
Rosaline Uwimana, a twelve-year-old beneficiary of scholastic material, couldn't hide her delight as she felt this will ease the burden on her mother whose the family bread winner. "My mother won't have to worry about getting me shoes as I Serena has given them to me," she said.
Muia promised to make the gift an annual event as it enlightens the lives of the less privileged.
