Tunisia: NCA Starts Looking At 2014 Draft State Budget

Bardo — The National Constituent Assembly (NCA) started, on Wednesday at a plenary session, looking at the 2014 draft State budget.

Before giving the floor to Prime Minister Ali Larayedh to read out the government declaration, democratic caucus president Mohamed Hamdi requested that the plenary session will be postponed to the afternoon, pending the meeting of the caucuses' presidents about certain points on the draft State budget.

According to NCA President Mustapha Ben Jaafar, "the plenary session is perfectly legal," adding that the date of this session had been set after a meeting of the caucuses president.

"Some caucuses' presidents are present and others are absent," he said.

Besides, he announced that a meeting is scheduled to be held between the caucuses presidents and the commission of the selection of candidatures for the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (IHAE) to discuss the draft amendment of the law on the creation of this authority.
