Egypt: Clashes in Minya Leave One Dead

One person was killed and another was injured when clashes flared between pro-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators and police forces in Samallout town in Minya on Friday afternoon.

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old was killed earlier today in New Damietta when clashes broke out between Muslim Brotherhood supporters on one side and police forces and city residents on the other, bringing Friday's death toll to two.

Security forces put out a fire in a police vehicle in Der Mouas area after pro-Brotherhood protesters set it on fire, an Aswat Masriya witness said.

Police arrested 20 supporters of former President Mohamed Mursi in Minya's Abu Qirqas area, which also witnessed clashes during which gunfire was heard.
