Somalia: Explosion Kills 10 Including Senior Military Officer in Mogadishu

At least 10 people were killed and 20 others were wounded after a landmine explosion targeted at a busy teashop in Mogadishu's Daynile neighborhood today on Friday. One senior government military officer and six others soldiers were reportedly included the dead people.

The explosion which s believed to be a landmine planted inside the teashop in the night before went off as more pople inxluding governmwnt soldiwrs came to chat and have tea as most of the people in the country's capital were enjoyig the better part of the weekend in this Friday.

Two women who were working at the teashop were also killed in the blast.

Eyewitnesses said that they saw bodies of 10 people including the two women. The wounded victims were rushed to the local hospitals for treatment.

The blast came as the security in this war-torn nation was highly beefed up the past weeks following fear of increased attacks by the extremists in the country.

The government security officials said the have arrested dozens of suspected people in connection with today's attack.
