Sudan: Police Storms West Kordofan University, Injures Students and Professor

En Nahud — Tens of students at the University of En Nahud in West Kordofan and a professor were injured when police and security forces entered the campus using tear gas and live ammunition on Thursday.

Witnesses from En Nahud told Radio Dabanga that the incident occurred on Thursday after a discussion about the university budget between the students loyal to the National Congress Party and students of the opposition parties. When the dispute escalated, the police and the security forces came in and fired tear gas and live ammunition, injuring tens of students and professor Dr Mohamed El Mubarak Bello.

The injured were taken to En Nahud hospital for treatment. The witnesses added that the police and security apparatus were still surrounding the university and chasing students who fled the university.
