Nigeria's John Obi Mikel capped up 2013 with a vital win as he was introduced at the start of the second half in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Liverpool. The win ensures Chelsea are third on the league table being Arsenal and Manchester City at the end of 2013.
Mikel was brought in to replace England international, Frank Lampard, and the Super Eagles star had a fairly good game in his stay on the pitch.
In what was arguably the biggest fixture of the weekend in England, it was Liverpool who broke the deadlock as early the 3rd minute through Skrtel. The Blues, however, responded with an equalizer though Hazard in the 17th minute and later got the winner through Samuel Eto'o.
The three points from Sunday's win keeps Jose Mourinho's men in 3rd place with 40 points, two adrift of table toppers Arsenal; and one behind second placed Manchester City.
The other game at the White Hart Lane ended in a 3-0 win for Tottenham over Stoke City.
