Nigeria: Again, Group Condemns Calls for Odua's Sack

An Igbo pressure group, Igbo Democratic Forum (IDF), has urged President Goodluck Jonathan not allow any group or individuals to put pressures on him to sack the Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Oduah.

The group said it will be against the laws of natural justice and infringement of fundamental human rights to sack her without exhausting all avenues for her to defend herself against the allegation.

Oduah was alleged to have pressurised some parastatals under her ministry to buy two bullet-proof cars valued at N225 million, without budgetary allocation and approval, a development that has caused uproar across the country.

But in a statement in Jos, Plateau State, on Monday, signed by the group's President, Chief Chidi Ndu, the forum said that it would be hasty to relieve the minister of her job when the report of the presidential panel set up by the Federal Government to investigate the matter was yet to be made public.
